The 71st crowning of Miss Universe took place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ms. Bonney Gabriel, a model and fashion designer from the United States, was selected among 83 women for the title.

The pageant organizer was JKN Global Group, PCL., for tycoon Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip. Ms. Jakkaphong bought the Miss Universe Organization for $20 million last October.

The stunning display of elaborate ensembles honoring both countries and cultures graced the National Costume Competition. Larger-than-life designs, with massive adornments and accessories, erupted with exquisite execution and attention to detail.

The beauty of this presentation is second only to the beauty of the women who appear in it.
