Lunar New Year

新年是这样美好的时光:炉火熊熊,花儿芬芳,醇酒飘香,殷殷祝福,美好回忆,恩爱日新。即便没有一切,只要有爱便足矣。
New Year is this beautiful time: stove fire flaming, flowers fragrant, strong wine floating scent, earnest well wishes, beautiful memories, conjugal love daily renews. Even if not have everything, just need to have love then enough.

Traditional Chinese blessing

This Chinese New Year (properly known as the Lunar New Year) occurred under the sign of the Rabbit, on January 22nd, 2023. The celebration was culminated with the Lantern Festival on February 5th, 2023. This marked the first full moon of the new lunar year and the end of the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) period.

Chinese Lantern Festival

On the night of the Chinese Lantern Festival, streets are decorated with colorful lanterns, often with riddles written on them. People eat sweet rice balls called tangyuan, watch dragon and lion dances, and set off fireworks. The sky lanterns are written with various prayers and wishes when released. The idea is that the lanterns will reach the heavens to give hope, answer prayers, and bring forth a bright future. The lanterns are almost always red to symbolize good fortune. The releasing of the lanterns symbolize people letting go of the past and welcoming the new year with good fortune.

The Rabbit also represents longevity, peace, prosperity, and hope according to Chinese culture. So, we can all expect much hope for this year and possibly better luck than last year, right? After doing a little research, I read that not all of us can expect to be blessed with a lucky Rabbit year.

The luckiest of the Chinese zodiacs
The luckiest Chinese zodiacs in 2023: Pig, Monkey, and Dog.

The luckiest Chinese zodiac signs in 2023 are the Monkey, Dog, and Pig; followed by the Horse, Goat, Tiger, Ox, and Dragon. Rabbits’ and Rats’ fortunes will be influenced by ‘opposition to Tai Sui’, but they are expected to have a good year. Roosters and Snakes will have to work especially hard to make headway.
