Ghostly Travels – Alcatraz
“Darkness is a prison from which only light escapes.”
― Matshona Dhliwayo
San Francisco is home to the world-famous penitentiary, Alcatraz Island. In 1934, this imprisonment outpost, nicknamed ‘The Rock’, was branded to be unescapable and incarcerated society’s gravest offenders.
Life on The Rock
Before its closure in 1963, notorious gangsters such as Al Capone and George Machine Gun Kelley served their sentences within its walls. A decade later, the Island reopened as a museum to reports of ghostly moaning, unexplained temperature drops, and apparitions of inmates— tormented souls unaware their sentences were now complete.

Al Capone and George Machine Gun Kelley were among those who served time at Alcatraz Island.
Curious if the rumors are true? Do mysterious manifestations truly appear on the island in the bay? Disembodied voices and untraceable chills could await your next visit, or possibly follow you home.
