Derry Halloween – Europe’s Largest Festival

“Just then, the Witch, to satisfy an itch, went flying on her broomstick, thumbing for a hitch!”
― The Wizard of Oz

Today, my lovelies, we shall fly, mode of transportation unspecified, to Derry, Northern Ireland.

Gather at Europe’s most celebrated festival when the 400-year-old Walled City breathes anew with parades, performances, and spectacular lights
high in the October sky…

For All Hallows Eve, the largest collections of supernatural entities and spectators, mostly living, shall gather at Europe’s most celebrated festival. In darkness, the 400-year-old Walled City breathes anew with parades, performances, and spectacular lights high in the October sky.

The Origins of Halloween

Learn of the beginnings of Halloween as only one can in its national place of birth. Hear eerie tales of ancient lore, tour haunted places, create spine-tingling keepsakes, and become transformed from a mere earthly existence to the spellbinding beyond.

Get this Party Started

For over four decades, Derry Halloween has been host to banshees, specters, and myths who converge with costumed revellers of all ages. Four magical days and nights, with an estimated total of 100,000 exuberant visitors, will lead up to Derry’s world-famous carnival, parade, and fireworks display on Hallow’s Eve Night. The Derry Halloween experience is free to the public, though special events may require advanced tickets. When traveling, booking early is essential as accommodation availability can quickly disappear. Costumes are not required but are excruciatingly encouraged.
