Connectivity
Realize that everything connects to everything else.
Leonardo DaVinci
Dabblers in philosophical enquires often ponder our relevance in the universe, our relevance to ourselves and our relevance towards each other. Or more plainly, What makes us tick?
My summation is connectivity. Its sparked energy draws forces towards or away from itself. It’s simple science, basic math, and great relationship quiz material.
A keystroke has the world at my fingertips, literally. Translation software makes me brilliant in Mandarin, (despite failing high school Spanish and French,) a medical expert (with the aid of Dr. Google,) and a master artist (by advancement in AI.) Despite all these (artificially inflated) advantages, I can have difficulty connecting.
Obvious can be elusive
Social media architecture is designed for interaction but can often expel more than it attracts. Negative comments, harsh criticisms, baseless accusations, and an anonymous mob of naysayer is cathartic for some, but not everyone.
Online forums, chat groups, blogs, vlogs, and video apps of every variety and subject exist. From the cozy of our homes, we merely shop our tastes and dispositions or select a mate or date proposals by a swipe right or left.
If connectivity is the answer to my universal inner peace, why do friends and followers, posts, tweets, selfies, and grub hub pics not fill my internal void?
Ask an obvious question
My dear Aunt Elaine, rest her soul, was of a previous generation. She never sent a text when a call would do. She wanted to hear my voice. Why Skype during the holidays when she was happy to bustle busy airports to hug me at Christmas? Did she possess an understanding of this mysterious energy of connectivity? A communicative Big Bang comprised of face-to-face, one-to-one interaction? Yep. I think she did. She also gave a brilliant bear hug. That was icing on the connective cake.
Is your id in need of connectivity? Look up from your phone, step away from your keyboard, and feed your inside with smiles from friends and hugs from family. It’s simple science, basic math, and makes great relationship-quiz material.
Obviously.
